It gives you time to think. And also time to learn how not to think. To try to not to think and learn from it.
And as first I have to tell that you are then in a totally new system on a boat that involutes you totally. Lot of work to make boat sail. And general emptiness around that makes you brain work even more. It is that you must try, and then you will know what I am talking about. From beginning I was stoned from the anti sickness peels.
Lunatic of being all the time half asleep and half awake. In sub real world. In Fantastic world, with open doors.

Pleas join me hear to express your opinion.

Sailing alone is the same as living alone. So, how is to live alone? No, we are talking about sailing here.

I can’t imagine how can you sleep while autopilot is driving the boat on wind-power.

That is about sailing alon. In general it depends from the person to the person how much someone is ready to risk.

My eletric autopilot makes a lot of noise with alarm when it’s out, because of load. And then i stay and drive manualy to reduce speed and ungage again the autopilot.
Also soon i did learn to hear ewery new sound which was singn of deanger. Always sleeping with one eye open.
But it can happen if you try to hard to stay awake, to fall asleep on the leags. You know thats why sailors easly write books-they have somthing to tell.
